As part of my new year drive to sort stuff out and to stop paying for stuff I don’t use I finally decommissioned my virtual server hosting, which will save me around £15 a month. My db4dawn blog has with wordpress.com for a while and I may at some point upgrade it to a pro package. I already have a pro package for the blog I plan to use for my professional writing stuff kjrickis.com and as part of my move away from self hosting I have set up a blog for my film production identity Persuasive Penguin, no link as there is no content and I haven’t made a film yet. My programming web sites now point to a Drupal Gardens site.

I will be using this blog mainly for funny bits, photos, rants etc. If you are looking for political insight or in fact any insight at all I doubt this will be the place.

Anyway I’d better head as I really would like to get up early fro a walk tomorrow morning.

I have been having an online tidy up as well. I have deleted my unused accounts on Bebo and BrightKite and sorted out the cross-posting issues I was having with ping.fm.

I am currently working on an assignment for my Open University course. I basically have all of it done and I will do a few more read throughs and corrections tomorrow evening then I will submit it on Wednesday after a further check. The next workbook is focused on creative writing which is the main reason for my studies.

I hope to get time later in the week to write a paragraph synopsis of the novel I am working on and then to get started on writing biographies of the main characters.

Tomorrow I need to get out for a walk at some point and I need to buy some fresh fruit as I am sure my poor diet over the last week has not helped my emotional state just now and some exercise may help me sleep.

Off to hope for some sleep.

1. I will complete a full first draft of a novel.
2. I will stop procrastinating the little stuff around the flat and get things done.
3. I will get my eating back under control and get some proper exercise.

Okay I have to go and do some house work now.

The tank in this case was small pool/room and not a capsule style tank.

After showering and putting in the foam ear plugs I stepped through a small door from the shower and into the tank. For the first 5 minutes some relaxing music was playing, it reminded me if traditional Chinese music but I don’t really know if it was. After 5 minutes the music switched off and the light in the shower area also switched off leaving me in complete darkness.

The solution I was floating in was made up of 200lb of water & 1000lb of Epsom salts. The solution is kept at skin temperature. This was slightly disconcerting as there was no real sensation like you get with a bath or swimming pool.

The first feeling I did get was that I was slowly drifting to my left, head first. It got to the point where I felt as though I was at 45 degrees to where I had started. This was obviously not possible due to the width of the room being 4 feet wide and me being 5 foot 10 inches tall.

I did manage to relax and “shut off” for periods which was good as it is something I have great difficulty doing.

The float in silence and complete darkness lasted 40 minutes then the music came back on.

I have another voucher for the tank and it will be interesting to see what it is like when I an not thinking about the experience and relax fully.
