… that you see a bit of your childhood blown up on live TV
This Sunday the National Geographic Channel in the UK is showing the live demolition of the Capelaw Court tower block in Edinburgh.
If you go to the link above you will see Capelaw and the park in which it stands. I spent a lot of my childhood playing in the park and at burn that runs along side it. My mate Ray grew up in Capelaw Court and I had friends that live in Caerketton Court & Allermuir Court.
I guess it will be strange and emotional to see this happen but the time to move on is long overdue. The 1960 social engineering experiment failed a long time ago some would argue it was more or less still-born. I will let The Jam have the final word on that point.
Lots of people will have their memories of the Oxgangs Tower Blocks and they will by no means be all bad.
