A Grand Day Out

I rose with with the sun this morning, well as close to it as was decent for a Sunday. :-)

I arrived in Dumfries just before 10 am so everything was shut, but I expected that. After a walk around and snapping off a few shots, see gallery.
I had breakfast in a “Bakers Oven” outlet where I used to go on Sundays and read the Observer or Sunday Corespondent during it’s short print life, the place was called “Oliver’s” then same chain I guess and they changed the name. The odd thing was what the carpet was still had “Oliver’s” and the cartoon character that advertised the shops on TV I think the jingle went “Oliver’s, Oliver’s, crusty bread from Oliver’s, (something, something) straight from the oven this morning, that’s Oliver’s bread” Anyway there were signs up saying that the back of the place was going to be refitted next week so I guess the carpet and a little bit of history will disappear.

I drove out to Sweetheart Abbey, see gallery, and down the coast before heading back to Dumfries and then on to Moffat for lunch. It rained on and off the whole day but it was good to get out and about.
